UX/UI Design Manager

  • Managed 22 projects, including the majority of UX/UI design efforts for two of our department’s largest accounts – Link and INDi, which brought Optum more than $20 million from their UHC client
  • Involved in new business pitches and SOW creation – secured more than $1.6M in new business for the department in 2017 alone
  • Collaborated with stakeholders such as product, marketing, development and customer support teams for product design – taking complex requirements and distilling them into actionable items
  • Lead a team of extremely talented User Experience and Visual Design professionals, providing mentorship to broaden their skills and manage their career growth – conducting performance reviews, critiquing design work and recruiting top talent
  • At the peak, managed the efforts of 11 resources across 16 projects/workstreams
  • Proactive in project resource planning, estimating and tracking logistical effort – resulting in better than 96% team utilization on capital projects from 2014-2017, the best in the department

  • Established “the LLC” initially to pursue mobile phone app development and have since helped design, manufacture and sell a product invented by my son

    • Mentored my 10-year-old son (at the time), helped nurture and develop his idea, resulting in the launch and running of a successful Kickstarter campaign
    • Marketed and sold the product both online and in retail locations
    • Made several TV appearances including winning a $5,000 prize on the Steve Harvey Show
    • Successfully applied for and was granted a design patent and registered trademark
  • App Development
    • Successfully created and launched 8 iPhone apps which were sold on the iTunes App Store
    • Licensed source code to a third party that has been used in 3 apps – Latin Grammy nominated singer and actress Anahi, comic book series Lady Death and Judy Moody from the popular book series and movie
    • One of the most popular apps, Insert-A-Zombie reached over 10,000 sales in a 2-month period surrounding the 2011 Halloween season and was a top-40 app in France

Creative Director / User Experience (UX) Designer / Systems Analyst

  • Was the principle user experience and visual designer for many of the first consumer and dealer-based mobile phone and tablet applications released by General Motors (our client) for their brands: Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC and Buick
  • Collaborated on-site with the client to learn business goals, define requirements, develop concepts and design products in an Agile environment
  • Performed and became fluent in all the typical UX tasks related to the creation of a digital product: market research, competitive analysis, user interviews, persona, storyboard and wireframe creation, user testing, etc.
  • Moderated task-based user tests and A/B tests of low fidelity wireframes and high fidelity prototypes
  • Developed creative specifications and maintained relationships with client agencies responsible for asset creation to ensure smooth delivery to the development teams
  • Worked closely with developers during and after design phases to present achievable app features and oversee integration of assets to keep the developers on track and in-line with brand expectations from a creative standpoint

  • Strategized and developed the concepts, art direction, and production of numerous successful projects including the award-winning Chevy Country Music Digital Calendar
